Carpenter was founded in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand, set on giving new life to waste wood from the manufacturing process of wooden frames, doors and windows. Believing that saving the world starts with oneself, this family brand aims to go beyond the “zero waste” concept and raise awareness about the value of natural resources. To highlight that value, the art of Thai carpentry and handicraft are put into designing and creating upcycled wooden products. Since 2012, we’ve believed…
“From WASTE to WORTH
SAVE THE EARTH WITH US”
One day, Veerada Siripong went to her family’s factory with her father and saw a lot of scrap wood scattered around.
She asked, “What are we going to do with them next?”
“They will be sold as fuel to the farmers for 5 Baht per sack,” her father said.
What a waste! To Veerada, these pieces of wood were beautiful with unique textures, colors and shapes. And most importantly, the annual rings showed the many years it took the tree to grow. It would be a huge waste to lose all the beauty. So she acted on her ideas to revive and add value to the waste wood by turning them into eco products. Today, Veerada is the architect, founder, CEO and creative director of Carpenter, an architecturally-minded creator of Eco-purposeful lifestyle projects.
