When his grandmother was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer, Chan Maketon reached into his background in agriculture and biological control research to find more treatment options. Alongside his mother and fellow entomopathogenic fungi expert, Professor Monchan Maketan, he set his sights on commercializing quality, homegrown Cordyceps extract. While pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, he was led to start CordyBiotech, birthplace of “Cordythai”, a strain of Cordyceps sinesis that is known for its anti-cancer benefits. A 2011 graduate from Washington State University’s Department of Pathology, Chanhas taken his vision and even paved his way into the food and beverage industry.
