Quick language lesson: in Thai, “TAKABB” refers to a centipede, a tiny, long, thin poisonous arthropod with many legs. Mr. Jui Sai saw these centipedes crawling in his house one day during a flood. Inspired by the Chinese belief in toxin-against-toxin healing properties of their poison, he decided to use centipedes as the trademark for his medicine brand. Don’t worry- while centipedes are the face of TAKABB’s products, none of them contain any centipede components. “To produce good quality products with affordable prices” is TAKABB’s core philosophy, wholeheartedly adhered to by everyone.
The informal birth of TAKABB was in 1935, when Mr. Jui Sai – Sae Sim left his mother country to settle in Thailand, bringing with him a profound knowledge of herbal medicines acquired from years helping at a pharmacy back in China. After decades in Thailand, TAKABB materialized in 1972, when the family’s second generation, Mr. Suthep and Mr. Soonthon, started “HATAKABB (SIM TIEN HOR) CO., LTD.” to manufacture traditional medicines. Today, the brand is GMP-PIC/S and Halal certified, and is backed by the “Thailand Trusted Quality Mark” and “Prime Minister’s Export Award”, evidence of its long-standing quality.
