Move through the day with intent, but stay willing to mix things up. YA’KAW’VAN’ blends technical and cultural heritage, merging into one authentic payment of homage to indigenous silk craftsmanship from the Karens of Chiang Mai. Today’s pride is a result of processes passed down from generation to generation. When Karen design silk patterns meet top grain leathers together in harmony, they spark our creations and keep you in style. Rest assured that wherever you go with YAKAWVAN, you hold local wisdom by your side.
Product designer Jannil Khanmakan is an indigenous Pakakeryor karen that has a dream of improving the lives of her people in the mountainous area in Chiangmai. The indigenous people rely heavily on crop sales, which can fluctuate just as often as the market demands. By combining the artisan handiwork of the Pakakeryor Karens with modern fashion, she helps to provide a unique look and feel while promoting the craftsmanship of her people. From this combination, Yakawvan is born.
